Update - Temporary Closure - Wakonda Beach State Airport
Update 2/23 - Due to very wet conditions, the runway and apron at the Wakonda Beach State Airport will remain closed until repairs are made and the surface dries enough to support aircraft without further damage. It is possible we will not be able to reopen the runway until early summer 2026.
The Oregon Department of Aviation will make repairs and reopen the airport as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during this temporary closure.
(!) For the most current updates on field conditions and surface closures, please check the latest NOTAMs. Please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed airport surfaces.
Announcement: Aurora State Airport Temporary Rulemaking - Violations and Civil Penalties for Vehicle/Pedestrian Deviations
Announcement - Safety remains the highest priority for the Oregon Department of Aviation (ODAV). To assist ODAV's efforts ensuring a safe operating environment at the Aurora State Airport (UAO), new temporary rules have been adopted regarding violations for Vehicle and Pedestrian Deviations (V/PD). These violations may be subject to civil penalties.
A V/PD occurs when a person enters into or moves within the restricted Movement and Safety Area at UAO without clearance by Air Traffic Control. Since the Air Traffic Control Tower opened in 2015, UAO has experienced a high number of V/PDs. In recent years UAO has had the highest occurrence of V/PDs in the Northwest Mountain Region.
