This revised rule was filed with the Secretary of State and became effective January 1, 2011.
Division 25: Continuing Education Reporting Requirements
CEU Requirements
| LCSW |
40 credit hours every 2 years
(includes 6 ethics CEUs)

| LCSW - Semi-Retired |
20 credit hours every 2 years
(includes 6 ethics CEUs)
|
| LCSW - Inactive |
No CEUs required |
| CSWA |
No CEUs required |
| LMSW |
30 credit hours every 2 years
(includes 6 ethics CEUs)

| RBSW |
20 credit hours every 2 years
(includes 6 ethics CEUs)

| Supervisors |
6 credit hours every 5 years in either supervision or ethics.
Please Note: The Supervision CEUs can be applied towards your 40 required CEUs. The ethics CEUs can also be applied to your 40 CEUs requirement, but must be in addition to the 6 regular ethics CEUs reported every 2 years

Carry Over
Up to 10 hours may be carried over from each CEU reporting period. For instance, if you accrue 62 hours in one reporting period, 40 can be applied towards the reporting requirements, and 10 can be carried over to the next reporting period.
Two Licenses, Two sets of CEUs Due
If you hold both a LCSW and an LMSW, you will need to report 40 CEUs for the LCSW, and 30 CEUs for the LMSW. These CEUs are to be individual, and not shared.
Universities
Graduate level classes and continuing education courses that have content that is directly related to established mental health care and is clinical in nature (Generally from psychology, social work, counseling, and education departments).
The following course credits can be applied towards the CEU requirements:

CEUs for Presenters
If you teach a course accredited by a Credentialing Body, you can count CEUs the first time you teach the course. For instance, if you teach a recurring course on Clinical Supervision for 6 CEUs for attendees, you can count the 6 CEUs the first time you teach the course, but not for subsequent courses.

State Boards that approve continuing education must have a formal process for accreditation of continuing education. The following are those known to us at this time: California, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Montana, and South Dakota; the Nevada Board of Marriage Therapists.
CEUs for Courses Not Approved by Governing Body
The Boards Continuing Education Committee may review up to 10 hours of credit per
reporting period for continuing education activities not approved by a mental health professional body (OAR 877-025-0006).
The following need to be submitted to the Board for a course, workshop, or seminar to be considered that has not been approved by one of the Board's credentialing bodies:
- An Outline of the Course's Content
- Goals and Objectives
- A Completion Document or Certificate
- The Presenter's Credentials
- Any Other Printed Materials from the Course (brochures, syllabus, hand-outs, etc.)
This information needs to be received 45 days prior to the renewal in which you owe continuing education.
