Getting to Know GINA
GINA, the federal Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act,
DNA GIF
went into effect over a year ago, but the EEOC only recently issued its final regulations.

The new rules, effective January 10, 2011, explain the prohibitions on acquiring and using genetic information in employment. They also define genetic information, provide model language for employers to use when requesting medical information, and detail narrow exceptions to the prohibitions of the law.

Jeff Burgess recently spent some time unpacking the significance of these rules on The Jefferson Exchange for Jefferson Public Radio.
