GENERAL INFORMATION:
This recruitment is open to all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications listed below. There is one position available in the Portland office.
These positions are with the Bureau of Labor and Industries’ Information Systems Unit (ISU), which is responsible for acquisition, installation, operations and maintenance of the Bureau of Labor and Industries’ (BOLI) computer systems and for information technology planning, development and implementation of the BOLI information technology plans. BOLI has 106 authorized positions at six sites which are all supported by ISU staff.
TO QUALIFY:
• An Associate degree in computer science or college-level course work that includes 30 quarter (20 semester) computer science credits; OR
• two years of experience that includes providing support to staff in the operation, maintenance, and installation of computer systems and other specialized skills as described in the attached position description.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment with a work schedule from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM to provide technical support to the majority of BOLI users. Must expect and be comfortable dealing with many interruptions during the work day to attend to user problems. Periodic travel to field offices for hardware and software installations or maintenance. Works with computer equipment 85% of the time: desktop and laptop PCs, printers and copiers. Will involve testing hardware connections and network cables requiring routine bending. The position will require regular lifting and moving of IT hardware. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be willing to return to the office at odd hours to deal with emergency situations.

- Experience configuring, testing and installing desktop and laptop PCs and printers and monitoring and maintaining these devices over time. Experience resolving hardware and software problems on PCs and printers.
- Experience providing responsive, friendly and supportive computer assistance to users with varied levels of computer understanding and experience. Providing verbal or written instructions to individual or small groups of users.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation and user documentation.
