| The Board's First Certified Victim Service Professional |
|
| 05/01/2007 |
It is with great pride that I am able to announce that Ms. Wojciechowski has received her 'Certification of Victim Service Professional' issued by the Crime Victim's Assistance Network (CVAN) and State Victim Assistance Academy (SVAA). When this position was created back in 2003, it was a long standing goal to have our victim specialist trained at the highest level possible to provide victim advocate duties equivalent to those providing services from district attorney offices. Ms. Wojciechowski has worked hard developing this position from one of notification to victims to one of being a true advocate. Her dedication to this role has fostered relationships with other advocates to help create a seamless system of support for victims pre and post-sentence. In the words of CVAN president Jim Wolf:
"It is our pleasure to welcome you to this elite group of people who have demonstrated their commitment to provide consistent, competent, quality services to crime victims in Oregon.
The Certification Program was developed through a partnership with the Crime Victims' Assistance Network and the Oregon State Victim Assistance Academy for several reasons. It is our hope that it will provide status as a professional who has obtained a level of competency as well as providing victim services providers with appropriate and tangible recognition for the specialized work being performed, the level of training required, and the level of experience attained."
Congratulations to Ms. Wojciechwoski for her hard work in becoming certified, her dedication in building this position to what it is today, and most importantly – her heartfelt service to victims.
