Summary
This data is a tool for analytical dynamic segmentation of all state owned or maintained highways for placement of features along the linear network in ArcGIS. This data provides a detailed view of the state highway system based on the Linear Referencing System (LRS) used by Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).
Description
This statewide file represents an annual snapshot and includes all state owned or maintained highways, spurs, connections, frontage roads, temporary traveled routes (TTR) and located lines.

Internal feature number.
ESRI
The milepoint measurement of the beginning of a roadway feature which is closest to the beginning of the highway.
Oregon Transportation Management System (OTMS) GIS Base Layer Development Project (GIS01)
ITIS measurements are based on features located to +/- 0.01 mile.
This date or time period in which the data extract is relevant or current.

A flag indicating that a line segment has an equation occuring on it (the line segment is .1 foot in length).
Oregon Transportation Management System (OTMS) GIS Base Layer Development Project (GIS01)
The date that the data was processed.
Geographic Information Service Unit, Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT)
A unique key field for segment identification.
Geographic Information Services Unit, Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT)
The official state highway name.
Linear Reference System highway identifier. This is a representation of elements contained in the ITIS database used to identify a highway, spur, connection or frontage road. The first nine characters are the inventory route numbers and the last three characters are the sub-route numbers.
Oregon Transportation Management System (OTMS) GIS Base Layer Development Project (GIS01)
Identifies the type of highway mileage.
Oregon Transportation Management System (OTMS) GIS Base Layer Development Project (GIS01)
A code that is used to identify each unique instance of duplicate milepoints.
Oregon Transportation Management System (OTMS) GIS Base Layer Development Project (GIS01)
The number assigned to a roadway where more than one roadbed exists for the highway.
Oregon Transportation Management System (OTMS) GIS Base Layer Development Project (GIS01)
A unique identifier assigned to the roadway designating a spur, frontage road, connection or regular roadway.
Oregon Transportation Management System (OTMS) GIS Base Layer Development Project (GIS01)
The date in which the line segment was created in the GeoMedia database (wpsdcdb006/HGIS)

Feature Geometry
Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI)
The ArcGIS measured length of the segment of highway.
Geographic Information Services Unit, Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT)
A unique identifier assigned to an Oregon State highway.
Oregon Transportation Management System (OTMS) GIS Base Layer Development Project (GIS01)
The main road or highway identifier is a three digit numeric code. Frontage roads and connections are identified by the three digits plus a two alpha-character suffix code.

State roadway id, state highway index number, state highway suffix number, mileage type, overlap mileage code, beginning and ending milepoints were obtained from ODOT's current Integrated Transportation Information System (ITIS) database. Shape_leng was generated from ArcGIS software. LRS, roadway type, and equation indicator were determined by the Geographic Information Services Unit.
This file is complete at the time of posting and is dependent upon receipt of completed contract/construction information at the time of posting.
Horizontal positional accuracy has been determined to meet or exceed NSDI map accuracy standards for 1:24,000 scale maps. Accuracy was determined by the combined use of USGS digital ortho photo quads and the NGS benchmarks to apply an accuracy statement to the highway linework via verification of known and visible NGS benchmarks on the orthoquads.
See the highway accuracy worksheet for 1:24k highway baselayer on \\sn-salemmill-1\GIS\DATA\shp\docs\highway_accuracy_worksheet.xls
No vertical positional accuracy has been determined.
The highway feature class was exported as a shapefile using Geomedia Pro v6.0: Warehouse > Export to > Shapefile. The file was then imported into ArcGIS where segment length was calculated and it became a measured shapefile.
The shapefile was brought into ArcGIS where the attribute table structure was reviewed and where process and effective dates were added.
