Description:
Abstract:
Oregon large dams. Large dams are defined by a dam height >= 10 feet and storage of >= 9.2 acre feet. These larger dams are within the juristiction of Oregon Water Resource Department.
Purpose:
Depict the approximate location of dams in the state of Oregon that the State has statutory authority over. These are dams that are greater than or equal to 10-feet in height and store greater than or equal to 9.2-acre-feet of water behind them.
Supplemental_Information:
The original dams were located by John Falk to the nearest second of latitude and longitude on USGS 1:24,000-scale quad maps. This information is stored in a format compatible with the National Dams Inventory database structure.
During 2009, George Robison and his staff improved the location of these dam locations and have updated the database.
The data was extracted from this database and a file geodatabase was created. In addition, attributes for basin, county, and township/range/section/quarter quarter were added using a spatial join in GIS. These attributes may be more accurate than the equivalent stored in the database.
