The school district theme was created in various stages from 1997 –2000. The theme was originally derived from 1:100,000 scale census data. The data was originally prepared in 1997 and 1998 to identify school district boundaries for the Oregon Department of Education’s day care provider lunch reimbursement program. The theme was created at the State Service Center for GIS (now part of DAS/IRMD’s General Government Data Center.) Drafts of the theme were sent to the department of education for review. The Oregon Department of Education updated the theme to correct school district names during 2000. The theme contains school district boundaries. The Oregon Geospatial Data Clearinghouse completed the latest update in 2001.
