Background The NASCIO Recognition Awards Program for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Information Technology NASCIO (National Association of State Chief Information Officers) acknowledges successful information technology initiatives in state government in order to promote innovation, foster better government, and engage citizens. Annually, NASCIO honors outstanding information technology achievements in the public sector through its Recognition Awards Program, that honors Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Information Technology. This honors program places emphasis on recognizing those information technology initiatives which exemplify best practices, support the public policy goals of state leaders, assist government officials to innovatively execute their duties, and provide cost-effective services to citizens. Link to NASCIO website Oregon NASCIO Awards Program Through the Office of the State CIO, agencies and departments may submit nominations at the state level. After reviewing all submissions, one nominated project in each of the specific categories annually designated by NASCIO, will be selected to represent the state of Oregon at the national level. These state level award nominees are acknowledged and honored within the state through the Office of the State CIO and the CIO Council as Oregon NASCIO Award Nominees.
