The Department of Administrative Services (DAS) owns and operates around three million square feet of building space. The buildings primarily contain general offices, but DAS also operates some industrial spaces that house laboratories, motor pools, computer centers, and print plants.
DAS designated its buildings as resource conservation zones. This means DAS works hard to save energy and water in its buildings, as well as ensure employees and tenants recycle to the best of their ability. The goal is to save taxpayer money and care for the environment to the greatest extent possible.

Marion County honors state buildings with EarthWISE awards

The Oregon Department of Administrative Services (DAS) recently joined the ranks of Marion County’s "EarthWISE" - a designation for organizations who commit to observe environmentally-friendly practices in their facilities.
The DAS EarthWISE page includes information on the January 2010 awards ceremony, including a photo album, and a list of the 19 buildings.
