Marion County honors state buildings with EarthWISE awards
The Oregon Department of Administrative Services (DAS) recently joined the ranks of Marion County’s "EarthWISE" - a designation for organizations who commit to observe environmentally-friendly practices in their facilities. Such practices include green choices in operation and maintenance, as well as choices that buildings' occupants make. Such practices include buying recycled-content paper and developing an advanced recycling program. These agencies have made sustainability a priority. They have implemented practices that benefit the environment, the community, and the economy. They support the governor's vision for a sustainable state government through prudent use of resources. Sustainable actions like these will compound across state government, helping to generate energy and money savings to taxpayers. EarthWISE re-certified 20 DAS buildings in a ceremony held at the State Capitol Galleria. See highlights in the Spring 2012 EarthWISE Bulletin. Learn more about EarthWISE
