Mail Services and Distribution
Print-to-Post

Publishing and Distribution's (P&D) "Print-to-Post" service is a more economical and efficient way for state agencies and political subdivisions to get materials printed and mailed to their customers. Done in one easy step, customers send their printing orders and mailing address databases to P&D, indicating what to print and when to mail it. P&D prints the job according to the customer's needs, then folds, inserts, addresses, bar-codes, and prepares it for mailing using automated first class or automated standard A.

P&D also offers a variety of database services including data conversion and National Change of Address (NCOA) processing.

P&D has a variety of specialized printers that can meet most address and bar code printing requirements. These include printing addresses (and additional data if necessary) directly onto self-mailers, personalized letters, cards, checks, oversized or thick documents such as books and flats, regular envelopes, and even on labels. Automated folding and inserting equipment is also available to process jobs faster, more economically, and more efficiently than manual processes.

This one-stop-shopping service incorporates digital communication technologies that enable customers to submit documents and lists electronically to a file server, over the Internet, on a floppy disk, or as hard copy. Easy, economical, and more efficient than manual processes, Print-to-Post simplifies work, eliminates unnecessary transportation, and reduces overall costs.

Because printing and mailing happens at the same location, trouble-shooting, quick modifications, and major changes can take place on the front end of a project. This is something that can be more difficult when printing and mailing are done at separate locations.

Resources

Mail Shuttle/Delivery Services
Mail shuttle and delivery services are offered to state agencies located in cities along the I-5 corridor. Services include pick-up and delivery of both interagency and postal mail.

P&D currently operates  Shuttle routes with 490 stops daily serving over 93 agencies, boards, commissions and counties. We transport an average of 476,000 pounds of mail per month. That's close to 23,000 pounds of mail per day!

Incoming mail (both interagency and postal) is sorted and directed to the agency address on the piece. Outgoing mail is either placed on the next available shuttle or sent through the US Postal Service or common carrier.

Delivery services are available for pallet-size loads by special arrangement. We operate two large trucks daily on an on-call basis. Please call (503) 378-3397, ext. 257 to schedule pick-up.

Gold Seal Express
For items that you would like held for pick up, we offer Gold Seal Express service at three locations: Publishing and Distribution in Salem; Portland State Office Building (Superintendent's Office, Suite 176); and the Eugene Motor Pool.

Address items in the normal manner, attach a Gold Seal Express sticker, and write a contact person's name and phone number on the item. When the item arrives, the contact person will be called for pick up. We will hold the item for three days. If it is not picked up within three days, we return the item to the sender.

Gold Seal Express stickers are available from P&D. If you don’t have access to a sticker just write "HOLD FOR PICK UP" in larger letters on the item. We´ll take care of it.
