GIS applications serving many business purposes have a recurring need for the same base data, called Framework. The Framework Implementation Team (FIT) works to assemble statewide datasets and share them. Government, organizations, and private companies see this effort as a way to share resources, improve communications, increase
efficiency, reduce costs and improve service and decision making. Framework is a major component of the GIS Utility navigatOR.
Oregon's FIT is closely aligned with the National Spatial Data Infrastructure initiative, led by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) and the President’s Office of Management & Budget.
