navigatOR - Oregon's GIS Utility
navigatOR logo
At least 80 percent of the information collected and managed by government is geographic. That is, it's information about a location, or an event at a specific location. It's vital to know where we are and what's around us. Public agencies and other organizations in Oregon depend on maps and geographic information to support day-to-day operations. This information also supports good planning and decision-making.

There is a critical need to coordinate, develop and maintain geographic information and the computer systems that manage it. The main work of the Geospatial Enterprise Office (GEO) is coordination, to ensure the quality and usefulness of Oregon's geographic information. navigatOR is a statewide effort to coordinate with local, state, tribal, and federal government, and private companies. navigatOR will lower the cost of managing geographic information and benefit all Oregonians.
About GEO

Geospatial Enterprise Office
The Geospatial Enterprise Office (GEO) coordinates with government agencies to develop and manage geographic information. It communicates about Geographic Information Systems (GIS) issues with users. It guides development of Oregon's GIS data standards. Working together, state, federal, and local governments are improving the geographic information they share. GEO is also the State's point of contact for other organizations about geographic information and GIS. GEO also hosts the Oregon Geospatial Data Clearinghouse, an electronic library of geographic information.
