PC and Software Standards

​In order to allow for our end users to have the best possible experience with their work PCs, we have established basic standards for all Desktops, Laptops, Software, and Peripherals.  It is expected, that in order to serve the end users to the best of our ability, that they meet these standards. Please note that most IT Assets are required to be tagged and tracked through out their lifecycle.

Desktop Standards

The current model desktop model in use by the TSC is the HP Compaq Microtower, meeting our current specifications of the following:

  • Current Intel Processor
  • 8 GB RAM and Hard Drive of 500 GB
  • USB Keyboard and Mouse
  • Dual Monitors,  19" or Larger
  • Windows 7 Pro
  • Integrated Video Card and Audio Solution
  • Intel® Network Connection (Integrated Network Adaptor)
  • SuperMutli DVDRW Optical Drive
  • Dual Monitor Card
  • Internal Audio Speaker
  • Warranty of 4 years Parts & Labor with 4 years Next Business Day Onsite Service

Desktop non-standard options are:

  • 25" or larger LCD monitor
  • Wireless keyboard and/or mouse
  • 3 button mouse

Laptop Standards

The current module in use by the TSC is the an HP Elitebokook, meeting our current specifications of the following:

  • Current Intel Processor
  • 8 GB RAM with 320 GB Hard Drive
  • 15.6 inch display screen and touch pad mouse
  • Integrated video card and wireless module with Bluetooth
  • Windows 7 Pro
  • CD/DVD Burner
  • Lithium-Ion 9 cell battery, with 4 hour life
  • Optional Docking Port/Replicator
  • Warranty of 4 years Parts & Labor with 4 years Next Business Day Onsite Service

Laptop non-standard options are:

  • Docking station
  • Carrying case
  • RS232 9 Pin serial port
  • LCD Flat Panel Monitors
  • Additional Battery

Peripheral Standards

For printing, TSC is no longer recommending the purchase of printer, but recommending leasing multifunction copiers off of the current Ricoh contract.  The Ricoh contract includes toner and maintenance, you do however pay for any per page print overages of what you contracted for. If you would like to purchase a printer ETS Provisioning can still quote you the cost for the printer and the cost of adding it to the Cascade maintenance contact. Here are TSC's printer recommendations:

    • Small Multifunction Copier (Standard)- Black and White or Color Ricoh Afico MP
    • Medium Multifunction Copier (Standard)- Black and White or Color Ricoh Afico MP
    • Large Multifunction Copier (Non-Standard)- Black and White or Color Ricoh MCP

For other peripherals that connect to either the DAS network or desktops and laptops, these are the standard products:

  • Projector: Infocus- any model dependent on need.
  • Wireless Keyboard and Mouse: Logitech Cordless Desktop
  • Label Printer (Local): Dymo Label Printer
  • Mobile Devices (Must be obtained through Verizon to be supported): iPhone and iPad*
  • Flash Drive/Thumb Drive: Kingston with encryption

*Please note that the iPad is not to replace a desktop or laptop, it a viewing device and not a fully functioning computer.

Software Standards

All TSC supported software come with the following: Antivirus, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Shockwave, Citrix Client, Internet Explorer Current Standard, Mainframe Access (Encrypted), Microsoft Silverlight, Microsoft Office Professional Current Standard, Oracle Java,  and the Windows Current Standard.

The following non-standard applications have been approved and are available at an additional cost and license verification: Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, AutoCad. Captivate, Crystal Reports, Dymo Label Printing, FileMaker Pro, FirstClass, Hyperion, IR Studio, RealPlayer, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, Oracle Client, SnagIt, and Visual Studio Suite.

All non-standard software is required to have its legal terms and conditions reviewed.  If the terms and conditions pass review, the software can be made available for an additional cost and license verification.
