Green Team
The Portland State Office Building (PSOB) launched a Sustainability Committee (Green Team) in July 2007.

The PSOB Sustainability Committee consists of employees who volunteer their time to make our building more energy efficient, reduce the amount of trash we produce, and generally create a better place to work.  The group opens its door to all interested employees.  We inform other employees of how to lessen their environmental impact while working in the PSOB.  We help to shape building policies and practices that increase efficiency and lower operating expenses.

Recent achievements include:
  • clarification and expansion of recycling opportunities;
  • development of a food waste compost program;
  • completion of an energy audit and follow up research to increase the energy efficiency.

Members of the committee are Barry Jones, Nita Heimann, Michael Heumann, Peter Farrelly, Marsha Hanchrow, Thomas Peterson, Albert Koroloff, and Elin Shepard.  The committee meets the third Tuesday of every month.
