We're fixing an error on alternative care
We apologize if it affected your claims payment

If you access spinal manipulation or acupuncture services as a member of Providence Choice or the PEBB Statewide Plan, you may have noticed a change to your portion of the costs for alternative care services this year. We also noticed.
 
We reviewed the situation and have a better understanding of what happened:
  1. As a result of section 2706 in the Affordable Care Act - the provider nondiscrimination requirement - we needed to change the way claims for alternative care services were administered beginning Jan.1, 2014.
  2. The change affected some members; they were billed more than expected for certain spinal manipulation and acupuncture services received from out-of-network providers.

This was not our intention.

We're working with Providence to make sure that members are billed based on our intended plan design for spinal manipulation and acupuncture in 2014.

With this better understanding, we're asking Providence to re-process claims from out-of-network providers who provide manual therapy services in conjunction with visits for spinal manipulation and acupuncture services.

This may take a little time, as reprocessing these claims must be a manual process. Thank you in advance for your patience.
