2011 Dependent Eligibility Verification Program
About 37,000 PEBB members who cover dependents (children, spouse or domestic partner) in their health plans must complete Step 1 of the 2011 Dependent Eligibility Verification program. Step 1 closes April 21, 2011.
 
In March, these members received a letter from PEBB introducing the program and one from the Mercer benefits group with instructions on completing Step 1. This Step-1 process requires all these memers to complete an online questionnaire. Click here to log in to complete the questionnaire.
 
The process allows members to
  • Remove a dependent who is not eligible for coverage
  • Confirm results showing a dependent is eligible for coverage
  • Disagree with results showing a dependent is not eligible for coverage 
Members who remove a dependent from coverage during Step 1 may not add them back to coverage in 2011. If a member removes a dependent from coverage who later gains eligibility, the member may enroll the dependent for coverage during Open Enrollment for the next plan year.
 
Step 2 of the program begins in May. Step 2 will require participation by PEBB members who cover dependents and who:
  • Did not complete Step 1, either because they didn't start or didn't finish the process
  • Checked "disagree" on completion of the Step-1 questionnaire
  • Are selected at  random
These members will be required to provide documentation that proves the dependents they cover are eligible for coverage. They will receive a letter from Mercer benefits group with instructions.

Finding your PEBB Benefit Number
Members need their PEBB Benefit Number for this program. It starts with "P" followed by eight digits. Here are four ways to find it:
  1. Look on the benefit summary you printed when you enrolled in October
  2. If you have ODS dental, look on your ID card.
  3. Log in to your benefit record at https://pebb.benefits.oregon.gov/members, select "Update my personal information," and look under “ID”
  4. Call PEBB at 503-373-1102
