Zike to lead state HR policy work

State COO Michael Jordan on Dec. 5 announced the selection of Madilyn Zike as Oregon’s Chief Human Resource Officer, effective January 13, 2014.

As Oregon’s CHRO, Zike will work to ensure a qualified, stable and supported state government workforce. She will oversee statewide HR policy development and coordination, classification and compensation, executive recruitment, labor relations and employee development.

Zike comes to DAS from Lane County where she served as the county’s Chief Operating Officer – overseeing budget, finance, HR, facilities and elections. Prior to that, she served as a support services manager for the Nevada Legislature and as a program chief for the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services.

Zike earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Nevada Reno, her M.B.A. from Western Governor’s University and is working towards a PhD in Human Resource Management from NorthCentral University.

“With nearly 20 years of management experience at the state and local government level, Madilyn is a data-driven decision maker with exceptional problem solving skills and a collaborative nature,” noted Jordan. “Best of all, she has a strong passion for public service and is dedicated to the success of our state.”
