About Conference Call
Man on the phone

Two types of service are available through the State Network: Agency Dialed or Meet-Me.

Good to know:
  • State Network conference bridges can not be accessed at all State locations.
  • Some phone systems have their own conferencing feature available.
  • Directions for use of Agency Dialed calls may vary based on the type of customer premise phone equipment.
Please ask your System Coordinator about availability of these services on your system.

Agency Dialed Conference Call

An Agency Dialed call begins by accessing the 105 (8-Party) or 103 (16-Party) Conference Bridges available on the State Network. An 8 or 16-party call counts your office as the first party.

Instructions:
  1. Access a State Network line
  2. Dial 105 or 103 (8-party or 16-party)
  3. You will hear an intermittent (stutter) dialtone
  4. You are now on the bridge-Welcome!
  5. Dial your first party
  6. Announce your intent to establish a conference call
  7. Press Flash to put the first party on hold and receive dialtone
  8. Dial next party
  9. Announce your intent
  10. Press Flash to bring all parties together
  11. Press Flash to put parties on hold and receive dialtone
  12. Dial next party
  13. Repeat steps 9 through 12 until all parties are added. When the last party has been added and you press Flash (step 10) to bring everyone together, begin your call.
Notes:
  1. Should an unwanted party be reached (i.e., busy tone, voice mailbox, wrong number) as the call is being established:
  • Press Flash to add the unwanted party to the call
  • Announce the intent to remove the party to existing parties
  • Press Flash to return to dialtone, and dial 101.
  • This will drop the very last call that was made and return you to the conference.
To continue adding parties begin again at step 11.
  1. Initial parties may speak while on hold as additional parties are being added to the call. If the call is of a sensitive nature, please add parties in an appropriate order.
Costs:

The only fee associated with the State Conference Bridge is standard long distance charges for each long distance call placed. If three long distance (LD) parties and two local parties are dialed, three LD calls (i.e., three LD parties X 30 minute call = 90 minutes) are billed. There is no fee for the State Conference Bridge itself, or for local parties.

Meet Me Conference Call

Meet-Me calls may include 12-20 callers.
  • Notify the Conference Operator of expected number of participants
  • State the date and time of your conference.
  • The Operator will provide a local Salem telephone number that allows access to the Bridge.
Notify all parties in advance of the appropriate number to dial.

One-Time Calls:

Call (503)378-8441 to schedule the call.  As each party calls individually into the bridge, there are no hosting fees associated with this service.

Regularly Scheduled Calls:

Many agencies use bridges for regular meetings (i.e., the first Tuesday of every month from 9-11 a.m.).  Call (503)378-8441 and reserve time slots with the Conference Operator.   Regularly scheduled calls require a  Telephone Service Order (TSO) be completed to turn the Bridge on/off. There is a one-time engineering fee ranging from $40 to $81 for this service.  TSOs can schedule a bridge for up to 6-months at a time.  Like the one time meetings, each party calls individually into the bridge, so there are no hosting fees associated with this service.
