Biodiesel

What it is:  Biodiesel is a cleaner burning diesel fuel made from natural renewable resources such as soy bean oil.

Benefits:  The use of Biodiesel can significantly reduce emissions, is biodegradable, safer to transport, and is a renewable source of fuel.

Customer Participation:  By using Biodiesel as the primary fuel type in diesel powered vehicles you are helping DAS Fleet meet its goals to reduce emissions and greenhouse gasses.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)

What it is:  CNG is natural gas compressed into high-pressure cylinders and used as an environmentally friendly fuel.

Benefits:  Natural gas vehicles show an average of 80% reduction in emissions compared to gasoline vehicles.  The cost of CNG is typically less than that of unleaded fuel.

Customer Participation:  By driving CNG powered vehicles you are helping DAS Fleet meet its goals to reduce emissions and greenhouse gasses.

E-85

What it is:  This fuel is used by "flex-fuel" vehicles.  It is comprised of 85% ethanol, an alcohol based fuel made from corn, sugar cane and other renewable resources, and 15% gasoline.

Benefits:  Use of E-85 will typically reduce emissions by 35% when compared to use of unleaded fuel.

Customer Participation:  By using E-85 as the primary fuel type in flex-fuel powered vehicles you are helping DAS Fleet meet its goals to reduce emissions and greenhouse gasses.

Hybrid Vehicle Information

What it is:  A hybrid is a vehicle that uses two or more power sources.  Most hybrids operate on a combination of a combustion engine, a battery and an electric motor.

Benefits:  Due to the use of the electric motor, hybrid vehicles get significantly better gas mileage than a conventional combustion engine.  This saves fuel and reduces emissions.

Customer Participation:  By driving Hybrid vehicles you are helping DAS Fleet meet its goals to reduce emissions and greenhouse gasses.

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle

What it is:  A plug-in hybrid is a hybrid vehicle with additional batteries that can be charged by plugging into an electric power source.

Benefits:  A plug-in hybrid can run entirely on battery power longer than a typical hybrid vehicle,  increasing fuel efficiency and reducing vehicle emissions.

Customer Participation:  This technology is new and is advancing rapidly.  It is anticipated that we will see an increase in vehicle manufacturing as well as availability of recharging stations soon.  By driving Plug-in Hybrid vehicles you are helping DAS Fleet meet its goals to reduce emissions and greenhouse gasses.
