The Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) compensation rates for 2011. Overall, costs for employers remained flat. The changes included:
  • A 1.8 percent decrease in the workers’ compensation “pure” premium rate for 2011. The reduction marked the fifth straight year of a rate decrease and the 21st consecutive year with no rate increase.
  • A proposed 1.8 percentage point increase in the workers’ compensation premium assessment, from 4.6 percent in 2010, to 6.4 percent in 2011. The assessment rate had decreased four times since 2002.
  • No changes in the Workers’ Benefit Assessment -it remained at 2.8 cents per hour.
