Annual Report to the Governor
On July 9, 2004, the Office of Regulatory Streamlining released its first Annual Report to the Governor and the press . Cory Streisinger, Director of Department of Consumer and Business Services and Pat Allen, Manager Office of Regulatory Streamlining, provided a brief overview of the over 300 projects that are completed or underway for the Regulatory Streamlining Initiative. Over 40 state agencies and commissions are participating in the initiative as part of Governor Kulongoski´s economic revitalization efforts.

Eight ´paper reduction´ type projects were showcased to Governor Kulongoski at the press conference. Amid the 250,000 pieces of reduced paper requirements businesses will face, the program managers were on hand to receive congratulations from the Governor for their part in making Oregon a more attractive place to conduct business. A Quick Look Back
PING learning sessions build and provide practical tools for making process improvements and regulatory streamlining projects reality. It has been a lively summer filled with new learning and great resource sharing.

Tools for Practitioners
In June the learning session So Who You Gonna Call?
PING Members constructed a resources document. These included, books, tapes, web sites and concepts that have assisted members in their professional growth and effectiveness.

In July the learning session Making Change Real in the Middle: Communication Planning. Members developed a communication-planning tool for effective organizational change communications.

Both of these tools are available for your use on the Regulatory Streamlining website at http://streamline.oregon.gov .

If you would like to add to the resources list please forward your favorite resources to laura.j.lesher@state.or.us for the next update.

In August PING Members were treated to Brian Light´s (Worker´s Comp Div./DCBS) presentation of What Are You Really Doing? Process Mapping. This informative session covered the what and how of process mapping itself, various styles of process mapping and how to effectively facilitate groups past the difficulties of process mapping. Brian and PING Members offered practical tips and discussion for making any process mapping work session more fun and effective.
