About Us

The Department of Consumer and Business Services, the Department of Justice, and Oregon Housing and Community Services work with the Legislature and consumer groups to protect Oregonians from mortgage fraud and provide resources to homeowners facing foreclosure.
The department’s Division of Finance and Corporate Securities, for example, regulates debt management service providers. These include people or companies who promise for a fee to help with home loan modifications and other foreclosure avoidance services. In Oregon, these people or companies must register with the division unless they are covered by one of a few exceptions.

This website provides information and resources to help homeowners prevent foreclosure, avoid scams, and better understand the foreclosure process.
