Oregon Integrated Contingency Plan
The Oregon DEQ and two other agencies have joined forces to offer Oregon businesses, industrial plants and government facilities the Oregon Integrated Contingency Plan and guidance outline to help deal with certain types of oil and hazardous substance spills or releases. The single-facility response plan is only for accidental releases or spills of oil and non-radiological hazardous substances.
Oregon E-Cycles Program shows big gains in 2010
The Oregon E-Cycles Program, a network of more than 250 collection sites and recycling facilities statewide that accepts unwanted computers, monitors and televisions from the public for free, collected and recycled more than 24 million pounds of materials in 2010 - a 27 percent gain over the program's first year.
Paint Producer Responsibility Law
Oregon has become the first state in the nation to enact a law requiring paint manufacturers to safely manage leftover latex and oil-based paint from consumer and contractor painting jobs. This historic product stewardship legislation responds to the problem of managing leftover paint -- the largest component of local household hazardous waste collection programs.
