The Background Check Unit (BCU) provides background check services and support to all DHS and Oregon Health Authority (OHA) divisions for employment purposes, for those who provide services or seek to provide services as a contractor, subcontractor, vendor or volunteer, or are employed by qualified entities that provide care and are licensed, certified, registered or otherwise regulated by DHS or OHA.
9/1/2017: As of 9/1/2017, BCU has updated the provider rules. Serious neglect of a vulnerable adult is now potentially disqualifying and requires a weighing test. Please review all the changes on the RULES AND POLICY page.
9/1/2017: BCU now has an updated Spanish translation of the background check request form for providers. See all forms on the FORMS page.
9/5/2017: Rollout of the Long Term Care Registry (LTCR) to most DD programs and MH adult foster homes. Employees, volunteers and contractors of these program will now have LTCR portability and be immediately hirable. BCU has emailed impacted qualified entities, and will update the LTCR webpage soon.
