In-Home Live-In Services

You are invited to participate in a discussion about upcoming changes to the Live-In Program.

July 11, 2016 1 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Department of Human Services, Barbara Roberts Building,
500 Summer St NE, Salem. Room 160

(a call-in line will be provided with a reminder of the meeting one week prior).

The Aging and People with Disabilities Program (APD) will end the live-in service program for NEW live-in service requests effective July 1, 2016.

This discussion will focus on how to wind-down the program for those receiving live-in services authorized before July 1, 2016.

APD must eventually transition individuals into hourly service plans. Everyone will still continue to be served and their needs meet in their home, but just not in a live-in plan.

At this discussion, APD staff will walk through options to gain your feedback as decisions on how we close the Live-In Program are developed. We'll share further information on expected next steps and more opportunities to be involved through a Rule Advisory Committee (RAC) on these changes.

Background

APD has been instructed by the Legislature to look at the sustainability of our programs and to start bending the cost curve. One of the things specifically instructed to look at is the Live-In Program. The financial increase in this program has become unsustainable, in large part, due to changes in the Federal Department of Labor – Fair Labor Standards Act changes.
