The DHS Process Center of Excellence (PCoE) is launching a Project Management Community of Practice (CoP).
The number of concurrent projects is immense. Project managers and their teams are responsible to ensure effective and efficient results. To do so, in this complex business, we must work together, learn, and enable change now, more than ever, hence the reason for this CoP. We will hold workshops every six weeks to accomplish our goals and objectives.
Professionals from a variety of disciplines will benefit from this PM CoP especially those we focus on within OIS including portfolio, program, and project management. In addition to the foundational,
project management discipline, other professionals in disciplines such as organizational change and business transition management, business process and lean process management, and business architecture will benefit from this PM CoP. Further, leadership councils, steering committees, and executive sponsors will also be encouraged to attend and participate in this Community because the activities and output from these gatherings will benefit them in their leadership roles.
In short, the PCoE PM CoP is a learning community of professionals responsible for project work – for planning, leading, and sustaining needed change in government business endeavors.
Through working together we will solve problems, develop new skills and capabilities, share and leverage best practices, build relationships and network, mentor one another, and realize business results through our efforts. In so doing, we will accomplish high-level goals needed in our business today of being customer focused, business results oriented, increasing our workforce skill set, building a more effective culture, and engaging in partner strategies.
