The Portfolio & Project Office (PPO) team currently provides processes and support in the area of Project Management for project managers in the Office of Information Services (OIS) and all of DHS. This support is based on the five standard process groups, and the nine project management knowledge areas from the Project Management Institute (PMI). When these processes are adhered to they inherently provide value and increase the likelihood that a project will produce a solution for the specified business issue within the agreed and documented time, cost, and scope constraints.
Our mission is to create a culture, which is experienced and effective in delivering products and services using the generally accepted disciplines associated with successful project management. Generally accepted means that the knowledge and practices are applicable to most projects, most of the time, and that there is widespread consensus about their value and usefulness.
The Project Management team combined with the Process Center of Excellence (PCoE) Unit is in the process of aligning all of the project management processes with the business transition processes into an Integrated Project Framework. This site contains the currently integrated documents. The original project management processes, tools and templates can be accessed by following the posted link on the top right of this page.
