DHS HIPAA Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
DHS has business-to-business testing. You will need to download, complete, and return the necessary portions of this packet (linked below) in order to begin the testing process required for conducting business electronically with DHS. *See the EDI-General Info. FAQs
The Good Faith Policy deadline of October 15, 2003, affects current and future electronic submitters who have not entered into a Trading Partner Agreement (TPA) with the Department of Human Services (DHS).

EDI Packet (Trading Partner Agreement and related forms)
- EDI Registration Packet (PDF) (Effective 3/2008) -- Includes registration instructions and how to complete EDI registration forms. If you need only a specific form in the packet, use the following links to quickly download only those pages:
- Trading partner agreement -- DHS will require all trading partners to sign a trading partner agreement in order to do business electronically with the department and prior to testing.
- Application for Authorization Form -- This form gives DHS information on who will be submitting your electronic transactions. It needs to be signed and returned prior to testing.
- EDI Registration Form -- This is the form needed by DHS from you or your electronic submitters to register a transaction for testing.
- TPA Change Form -- Trading Partners and electronic submitters are required to submit this form within 10 business days when material information has changed.
- EDI Administrative Rules (PDF) -- These administrative rules establish the DHS registration process and requirements applicable to individuals or entities that desire to be treated as Trading Partners or EDI Submitters with DHS. They also govern the conduct and requirements of all EDI Transactions with DHS.

Business-to-Business Testing
Once we receive a completed Trading Partner Agreement, DHS will e-mail you an instruction packet for Business-to-Business testing.
A member of DHS EDI Support Services will call each submitter and provide them with specific logins and passwords. Additional questions may be addressed at that time to DHS EDI Support Services.
