The 2007 Oregon Legislature authorized the Department of Human Services to use abuse and neglect information to screen applicants for employee, volunteer and provider positions.

Work is under way to develop the administrative rules that will implement this authority. A work group with representatives from DHS sections and employee unions is leading the effort.

The screening system will be implemented in two phases, first for employees and volunteers, and second for providers.

Stakeholders, including providers, are invited to provide input prior to full implementation. Meetings are being held around the state in June and July. Select the link below to view the schedule of meeting dates and locations.
