This employment opportunity is with the Public Health Division, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). There is one permanent full-time position within the Office of Family Health, Immunization Services Program located in Portland. A union represents this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree in a health or education field and three years public health related experience; OR
A Master’s degree in a health or education field and one year of public health related experience; OR
A Bachelor’s degree and three years of leadership experience in Public Health or in other program organizations at the local, state, or national level.
NOTE: Candidates that possess a Master’s degree in a health or education field and one year of public health related experience are desired.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary purpose of this position is to provide health education program planning, technical assistance, training, leadership and coordination of the Oregon immunization law and administrative rules for school and children’s facility attendance. Provides consultation with public health department administrators, nursing supervisors, immunization coordinators, and Oregon Public Health staff for immunization law and rules.
Major duties include:
The person in this position is responsible for the coordination of activities involving the immunization law including schools and children’s facilities. Organizes annual exclusion process. Provides coordination and evaluation of validation survey schedules and survey materials. Conducts validation surveys for schools and children’s facilities. Serves as lead worker for assessment and evaluation of school/facility handbook. Provides training for Immunization Program staff, public health departments, schools and children’s facilities. Follows up to ensure compliance with the immunization law, including completion of statewide assessment reports. Has primary responsibility for periodic revisions to Division 50 of the Oregon Administrative Rules. Provides policy guidance and interpretation of the administrative rules to public health departments, physicians and parents. Interacts with the media about immunization requirements, including preparing press releases, media kits and providing information and interviews. Occasionally works on special projects around the immunization law.
This position works collaboratively in a team setting. Good team player skills are necessary, including the willingness to collaborate, share information, and contribute to the team’s success as necessary. The position also requires excellent customer service skills for both internal and external customers, and the ability to demonstrate initiative and independent judgment on an ongoing basis. Person must contribute to a positive, respectful and productive work environment.
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions required to meet the demands of this job and to provide necessary services.
WORKING CONDITIONS
As much as 60-75 percent of work is office oriented. During the remaining time, the employee is required to make field visits. This position requires occasional in-state and out-of-state travel with overnight stays. It also requires frequent in-state travel to attend meetings, provide training, and participate in work group activities. Some weekend and evening hours are also required.
