This employment opportunity is with Public Health Services, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). There is one half time LIMITED DURATION position within the Office of Disease Prevention & Epidemiology / Health Promotion & Chronic Disease Prevention Program located in PORTLAND. A union represents this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience with responsibility for program or project monitoring and coordination. The experience must have included program evaluation responsibility.
NOTE: Individuals witha Bachelor’s Degree or higher and at least 2 years experience working in public health is desired.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will carry out programming and activities that promote the consumption of fruits and vegetables for health in the state and in communities. This position provides technical assistance to regional fruit & vegetable groups; maintains the fruit & vegetable program web page and listserv; supports implementation of Fruits & Veggies—More Matters™ brand, tracks and reports on fruit and vegetable promotion activities and outcomes.
Major duties include:
The person in this position provides technical expertise, training and leadership to HPCDP program staff, HPCDP grantees and contractors, local public health agencies, worksites, business and industry, schools, universities, organizations, planners and policy makers, medical providers and health systems to develop, implement, and evaluate fruit and vegetable promotion efforts at the state and local level.
Develops and maintains understanding of HPCDP program areas and participates in cross-program opportunities to enhance coordination of efforts for local health departments, community organizations, and collaborative projects. Supports implementation of the Fruits & Veggies—More Matters™ brand and tracks fruit and vegetable program promotion activities and outcomes.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Use of microcomputers / video display terminals, short time lines on many projects, occasional in-state and out-of-state travel, including over-night travel; attendance at evening meetings; sensitivity to special needs of diverse populations.
