This employment opportunity is with the Public Health Division, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS).  There is one limited duration position (estimated 20 hours per week) ending June 30, 2011, within the Adolescent Health/Genetics Program located in PORTLAND.   A union represents this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
 
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, Finance, Political Science or a degree related to Human Services/Public Health program; and two years experience coordinating and administering a human service/public health program;
 
OR
 
Any combination of experience and education equivalent to five years of experience coordinating and administering a human service/public health program.
 
NOTE:  A Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, or a related discipline is preferred.

  • Experience working with public schools kindergarten through twelfth grade and public school districts.
  • Experience with the Coordinated School Health model including any experience with Oregon’s Healthy Kids Learn Better Program.
  • Experience conducting trainings for adult learners such as educators or health professionals.  Include techniques and approaches used in the trainings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
The purpose of this position is to increase youth access to health services and healthy environments by improving local and state coordination of care via the state’s existing Coordinated School Health (CSH) Program, Healthy Kids Learn Better. This .5 FTE position is funded by a 1-2 year interagency agreement and funding stream from the Problem Gambling Prevention Program in the Oregon Addictions and Mental Health Division.
 
MAJOR DUTIES INCLUDE:
 
Program Coordination and Evaluation
 
Provides support to the DHS Team Lead for Coordinated School Health to coordinate programmatic, fiscal, and administrative tasks related to the Healthy Kids Learn Better Program and demonstration projects. 
 
System Improvement
 
Lead responsibility for assessing and defining training needs related to Coordinated School Health. 
 
Policy Analysis
 
Conduct ongoing program and policy analysis on state and national guidelines, standards, best practices, models, and practices for effectively promoting the health of school-aged youth and preventing, identifying and treating health problems of school-aged youth. 
 
Partnerships & Representations
 
Develops, maintains and co-facilitates interagency/ multi-partner workgroup/advisory committees as necessary to assist in the development of tools, trainings and resources for input into planning and strategic direction for the project. 
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
 
Regular travel in state between State Public Health (Portland) and other state agency offices (Salem) and to participating school communities with occasional overnight stays and (rare) out-of-state travel.   You must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.  If not, you must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation.
