You must be a current employee (this includes regular status, trial service and limited duration employees) with Eastern Oregon Training Center or Blue Mountain Recovery Center OR an employee on layoff status of Eastern Oregon Training Center in order to apply for this position.
This employment opportunity is with the Blue Mountain Recovery Center (BMRC), Addictions and Mental Health, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). This position is represented by a union.
This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as needed.
Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall the Governor has ordered mandatory furloughs for employees. This position will be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2009-2011.

Blue Mountain Recovery Center (BMRC) provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for mentally and emotionally ill adult specialty populations from throughout the state.
QUALIFICATIONS
Your PD 100 application form will be reviewed to verify that you meet the qualifications stated in this section.
Two years of technical support accounting experience, one year of the experience must include the calculation, recording, and maintenance of routine accounting information;
OR
At least 36 quarter (24 semester) credit hours from and accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that included 9 quarter (6 semester) hours in accounting.
Training or experience must include operating a ten-key calculator by touch and using a computer to enter, update, or retrieve information.
To receive credit for required courses, submit a photocopy of transcripts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Accounting Technician 2 maintains accounting records including coding transactions, checking them for propriety, balancing, and resolving discrepancies in computer edits.
Major duties include:
Review and process routine accounts payable and travel expenditures; reviews documentation to determine monies owed to vendors or that the State is eligible to receive. Applies knowledge of State’s accounting manual, agency accounting practices and procedures, and accounting system operation.
Serves as Cashier and Trust Accountant. Receives and disburses general fund monies, revolving fund and trust fund monies, maintaining supporting documentation for all transactions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work performed in a psychiatric hospital, serving individuals with mental illness. Daily routines can be hectic, with exposure to hostile, angry residents with the potential for violent behavior. Daily exposure to infectious diseases, biohazards, noises and contaminants.
Must have basic computer skills and be willing to learn new technologies as they are introduced into the workplace.
Work hours subject to change with little notice.
You must have a valid Oregon driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. If not, you must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation.
