This employment opportunity is with the Blue Mountain Recovery Center (BMRC), Addictions and Mental Health, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS).  This position is represented by a union.
 
This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as needed.
 
Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall the Governor has ordered mandatory furloughs for employees.  This position will be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2009-2011.

Blue Mountain Recovery Center (BMRC) provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for mentally and emotionally ill adult specialty populations from throughout the state.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position must maintain a Electrician, Limited Maintenance, LME, license. 
 
Provide journey level operation, calibration, repair and installation of components associated with HVAC systems, emergency generators, security systems including fire alarm, cleaning calibration, checking and documentation.  Provide preventative maintenance services with a particular focus on safety. 
 
Provide journey level work by repairing, replacing, and troubleshooting HVAC systems that provide heat, air conditioning and ventilation to groups of buildings or multi-zone HVAC units.  Repair zone valves, pumps, pneumatic and electrical control devices.  Adjust and calibrate thermostats, actuators, dampers and linkage associated with HVAC units.  Adjusts belts, fans, bearings, controllers and devices so all components work together.
 
Collect, test and balance electronic systems for environmental conditions within indoor air quality standards.  Adjust dampers and controls to maintain indoor air quality.  Examine existing HVAC systems and make recommendations for renovations.
 
Monthly test of Fire Alarm Ionization detectors, fire dampers, pull stations and fire sprinkler systems.  Perform monthly checks of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and electronic door locking systems. 
 
Replace and repair door locks and hardware, re-keys, services and maintains lock codes.  Maintain and fabricate electronic devices which include motion detectors, door alarms, and closed circuit camera systems.  Troubleshoot electronic systems on dishwashers, washers, dryers, and food equipment.
 
Perform weekly maintenance checks of administration buildings, repair and maintain physical plant tools to assure proper performance and safety of equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work performed in a psychiatric hospital, serving individuals with mental illness. Daily routines can be hectic, with exposure to hostile, angry residents with the potential for violent behavior.  Daily exposure to infectious diseases, biohazards, noises and contaminants. 
 
Must have basic computer skills and be willing to learn new technologies as they are introduced into the workplace.

Work hours subject to change with little notice.  May be required to work hours that exceed regular schedule, i.e., a double shift or a different shift in addition to regular schedule.

Hardy physical labor for short emergencies or long hours of exposure to extreme conditions throughout the year. 

You must have a valid Oregon driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. If not, you must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation.
