(E.H.D.I. Referral and Data Quality Coordinator)

$3,727 - $5,187 MONTHLY


This employment opportunity is with the Public Health Division (PHD), which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS).  There is one full time position in the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) section within the Office of Family Health, located in PORTLAND.  A union represents this position.
 
Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall the Governor has ordered mandatory furloughs for employees. This position will be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2009-2011.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to Human Services/Public Health; and two years experience coordinating or administering a program related to human services/public health.
 
OR
 
Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five years of experience coordinating or administering a program related to human services/public health.
 
NOTE: Experience in policy development and program implementation on the county or state level is desired. Preference may be given for a Masters Degree in Public Health.

  • Experience brokering relationships and partnerships for public health or policy related goals among diverse constituencies.  Describe how you motivated organizations and people to participate in a public health or related field initiatives.
  • Experience providing research, evaluation, data quality coordination, monitoring programs, grants or contracts for compliance and quality assurance.  Describe your role in analyzing data, recommending interventions, and ensuring data quality and compliance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
This position provides technical assistance to the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program to assure and support policy, program design, and evaluation needs for public health data information related to hearing loss.
 
MAJOR DUTIES INCLUDE:
 
Coordinates the overall referral process for EHDI follow-up with local public health departments and early intervention programs, provides organization of follow-up activities with the EHDI team, and provides oversight of follow-up and tracking activities with hospitals and diagnostic facilities.
 
Oversees planning and development of data quality and operational improvement projects for the EHDI registry and ensures provision of quality data for EHDI program grants and reports.
Researches and analyzes EHDI national policy and practice recommendations, and emerging state and national issues.
 
Coordinates planning, implementation and evaluation of community education and outreach activities and projects for underserved populations.
 
Collaborates with other state and local program partners, soliciting their participation and/or that of community members in planning, implementing and evaluating community education and outreach activities for EHDI.
 
Assists EHDI Program Coordinator with development of budget, legislative requests, and grant applications to state, federal and other funding entities.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
 
Routine travel (both in-state and out-of-state) to attend meetings, conferences, and make presentations. 
 
Occassional weekend and evening hours.  You must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.  If not, you must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation.
