(Senior Developer)

$5,094 - $7,032 MONTHLY


This employment opportunity is with the Administrative Services Division (ASD)/Office of Information Services (OIS,) which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS).  There is one full time opening located in Salem. This position is represented by a union.
 
This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
 
Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall the Governor has ordered mandatory furloughs for employees. This position will be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2009-2011.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Six years of professional consultative, technical, or administrative experience, providing expert advice and leadership in the planning, development, coordination, and implementation of web applications systems. 
 
Experience must include activities in the following:
  • Experience architecting and developing JEE applications, Java and frameworks like Spring and JSF
  • Experience developing and consuming web services
  • Experience with data persistent technologies like Hibernate and OpenJPA;
  • Experience with XML, SQL, relational databases (DB2, Oracle etc)
  • Experience with Integrated Development Environments like IBM , Rational Application Developer or Eclipse
  • Business requirements collection, analysis and specification for large complex applications;
  • Systems analysis, design, programming, testing and implementation using a system development lifecycle and best practices in Java environment
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture; Application development experience on multiple technology platforms;
  • Experience creating and maintaining application documentation artifacts according to industry standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 
And either   
 
(a) At least 30 quarter (20 semester) credits in computer science; or
(b) Two more years of experience in the planning, development, coordination and implementation of information systems.
 
15 quarter (10 semester) graduate-level computer science, software engineering, information systems, or equivalent credits may substitute for one year of the professional experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
This position is responsible for the providing overall architectural strategy and development of information systems. Senior Developer works collaboratively with peer architects to develop Application Architecture standards, policies and guidelines to ensure appropriate application, implementation, and compatibility with architectural and technical standards.
 
This position provides expert advice on architectural approaches to technology applications in support of mission critical and important business processes. The Application Architect/Senior Developer directs and coordinates all levels of the modeling, logical system architecture development, and technological infrastructure design (integration, interoperability, etc). The Application Architect/Senior Developer mentors and supports the application development staff in their various roles and responsibilities.
 
The Application Architect/Senior Developer provides the vision, develops the outline for an integral design, keeps the overview and takes care of the design consistency. He/she provides the context for the development activities that will be carried out by multi-disciplinary teams of specialists.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS 
 
Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with extensive use of personal computers.  May require long hours with night and weekend work.  Some occasional travel may also be required.
