This employment opportunity is with Children, Adults and Families (CAF), which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). There is one full-time position located in SALEM. This position is management service and is not represented by a union.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
You must be a current employee (this includes regular status, trial service and limited duration employees) with the Department of Human Services to apply for this position.
One year of experience as a supervisor of clerical, secretarial, or office support staff, which included hiring or recommending hiring; training, assigning and reviewing work; preparing performance evaluations; and handling disciplinary actions.
NOTE: Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall the Governor has ordered mandatory furloughs for employees. This position will be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2009-2011.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position develops support staff delivery systems to insure efficient work flow within the office. This position works closely with the Business Integrity Coordinator to design, implement, and administer the business activities for the Self Sufficiency offices. Major duties include:
- Supervise, hire and train staff, assign tasks to accomplish prescribed work efficiently, provide direction to workers concerning work procedures, train staff in established standards of performance, review employee performance for conformance with agency standards, and provide informal assessment of employee’s performance.
- Monitor status of employee appraisals, completion of position descriptions, and employee development plans.
- Interpret rules, policies and procedures for business management, including establishing District procedures, logs, and controls necessary to carry out assigned work.
- Analyze monthly expenditures in all budget areas in order to identify projected deviations and recommend effective comprehensive methods of saving money and promoting responsible spending.
- Maintain office budget records; monitor billings and resolve problems with vendors.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Some travel is required. You must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. If not, you must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation.
The person in this position works a professional workweek and the incumbent's flexibility to this work schedule is considered a condition of employment. It is understood that the hours of work may vary from day to day, week to week. The hiring manager will work with the incumbent to determine work schedule specifics.
