LIMITED DURATION
This employment opportunity is with the Director’s Office (DO)/Office of Investigations and Training (OIT), which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). There is one full-time, limited duration (to last 24 months from the date of hire) opening located in Salem. This position includes family health benefits and leave accrual. This position is management service and is not represented by a union.
This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall the Governor has ordered mandatory furloughs for employees. This position will be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2009-2011.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to Human Services; AND two years experience coordinating or administering a program related to Human Services.
OR
Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five years of experience coordinating or administering a program related to Human Services.

- Describe your experience investigating reports of abuse for vulnerable adult populations and creating a case narrative including the analysis and rationale for conclusions reached.
- Describe your experience interpreting and applying laws, rules and guidelines related to abuse and neglect investigations.
- Describe your experience providing technical assistance, reviewing and approving investigative reports for objectivity and thoroughness and providing feedback to the investigator and supervisor (if applicable).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct the program for Protective Services across identified counties and regions delivering developmental disability and mental health services. The program focus is on abuse prevention, detection, investigation, reporting and delivery of protective services to clients who have been victims of abuse. These functions are carried out through coordination with community mental health and developmental disability programs through monitoring, guidance and technical assistance activities.
Additional program components include training to county adult protective services staff on abuse investigation and protective services; providers and other mandatory reporters, service recipients and the public on abuse and neglect of adults with mental illness or developmental disabilities. Data collection, analysis, research and reports are used for system improvement. Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office environment. Frequent travel, may require overnight stay, contact with hostile individuals. You must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. If not, you must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation.
