This employment opportunity is with Children, Adults and Families/Volunteer Services Program, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). There is one full-time opening located in MADRAS. This position is represented by a union.

QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of courses or training in Office Technology; OR
One year of general clerical experience including typing or word processing, or other generating of documents;
OR
An equivalent combination of training and experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Department of Human Services, Volunteer Services Program, provides assistance to the Department’s clients by utilizing the strengths of the volunteer community to help people to become independent, healthy and safe by providing essential basic needs and services. The purpose of the program is to develop and to establish mentorship’s and volunteers in the communities and to support clients by offering basic needs like school supplies, personal care items, and to connect families to the community during the holiday seasons.
The purpose of this job/position is to provide coordinated services for clients and to promote volunteerism in the community.
MAJOR DUTIES INCLUDE:
Screen applicants for accuracy
Schedule appointments for clients
Answer phones
Support and Co-coordinate the current and new volunteer projects: Volunteer Recognition Event, Lunch Buddy Program, Community School Supply Project, Thanksgiving Drive, Holiday events and other community events
WORKING CONDITIONS
The employee’s work is conducted in offices, participant homes and other program sites. Work can require travel, including overnight. You must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. If not, you must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation. Employee has contact with a range of people including some exhibiting anger and frustration. Participants could be drug or alcohol affected and in need of treatment.
The employee will be exposed to, and need to deal with, a range of emotionally charged issues. Job is fast paced with a high volume of client contact, computer data entry and paperwork. This position will be required to work a flexible work schedule as a condition of employment. This is understood to mean that the hours of work may vary from day to day and include evenings and weekends. Work schedule specifics will be determined by the hiring supervisor.
