This employment opportunity is with Budget, Planning and Analysis (BPA)/Actuarial Services Unit, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). There is one full-time opening located in Salem. This position is represented by a union.
This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall the Governor has ordered mandatory furloughs for employees. This position will be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2009-2011.
QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience as an administrative specialist or executive support specialist, which included administrative support for a project, program or operation. Administrative support includes those duties beyond clerical/secretarial such as: interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations; administrative data collection and analysis; and evaluation of projects, processes, and operations; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
One year of post secondary education may be substituted for up to one year of the experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct confidential administrative and technical support to the Administrator for the Actuarial Services Unit (ASU), the Administrator of the Office of Forecasting, Research and Analysis (OFRA), and the Administrator for Budget, Planning & Analysis (BPA), as well as the staff in the units in ongoing administration of the units’ operations. Represent ASU, OFRA and BPA and acts on behalf of the ASU, OFRA and BPA Administrators when providing or receiving information, when scheduling and arranging appointments, meetings and conferences, and when performing special projects or assignments as assigned. Deal with sensitive issues which require confidentiality and the situations involved must be handled with tack and diplomacy. Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Office setting with significant use of computer and phone. Some overtime required. Conform to numerous short deadlines throughout the year. Requires working with a wide variety of people and situations, which may occasionally expose the employee to difficult situations requiring diplomacy.
