This employment opportunity is with the Division of Medical Assistance Programs (DMAP)/Business Support Unit, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS).  There is one full-time opening located in Salem.  This position is represented by a union.
 
You must be a current employee (this includes regular status, trial service and limited duration employees) with the Department of Human Services to apply for this position.
 
This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
 
Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall the Governor has ordered mandatory furloughs for employees. This position will be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2009-2011.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, AND one year experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports.  College transcripts must be submitted with qualifying courses CLEARLY MARKED if using this option in order to verify the six-quarter units.
 
OR
 
Four years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports.

  1. Describe your experience explaining data collection policies and procedures and doing moderately complex research statistical data analysis using both quantitative as well as qualitative data.
  2. Describe your experience writing research and technical reports and in preparing research presentations.
  3. Describe your experience using software related to databases, worksheets and statistical analysis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Develop research methodology, procedures and processes for data collection.  Design programs to collect raw data and generate reports in various formats.  Analyze, interpret and validate data. Recommend future studies for further research and analysis.  General responsibilities include: identifying system problems and areas of non-compliance, interpreting rules, and policies defined by Medicaid or the Oregon Health Plan and DMAP, to be a liaison between DMAP and vendors/contractors resolving and coordinating file discrepancies.  Designing ad-hoc- queries used to extract and analyze data.  Other duties as assigned.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
 
Normal professional office environment with extensive computer work.  Some demanding timelines.  Occasional travel may be required.  You must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.  If not, you must be able to provide an alternate method of transportation.
