This employment opportunity is with the Division of Medical Assistance Programs (DMAP)/Quality Improvement and Medical Section, which is part of the Department of Human Services (DHS). There is one full-time opening in the Salem. This position is represented by a union.
This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
Please be aware that due to the economic downturn and subsequent state budget short-fall the Governor has ordered mandatory furloughs for employees. This position will be required to take furloughs in the biennium 2009-2011.
QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.
College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform administrative/clerical duties for the Hearings Unit in DMAP.
Receive new hearing request forms and assure all information is filled out correctly and determine if the request was filed in a timely manner. May require contacting client, client representative or attorney for additional information to determine the hearing issue and/or who is representing client.
Prepare files for each hearing request. Verify eligibility and identify managed care plan or fee-for-service case, benefit package and any other information needed utilizing MMIS; print screens for each file; prepare and send appropriate correspondence requesting appeal and medical documentation; refer to Office of Administrative Hearings.
Request additional information needed from branch, client, providers, attorneys, DMAP staff, contractors, and managed care plans. Research fee-for-service cases; determine what type of service was denied, which DMAP unit or contractor denied the service, and request appropriate documentation and notices.
Send urgent request for medical documentation on expedited cases. Track and follow up on medical documentation if not received within two days. Assign expedited hearing cases to nurse reviewer. Receive scheduling notices, enter scheduling information into Hearings Access database, schedule conference room and enter on hearing rep. calendars. Other duties as assigned.
