Public hearings focus on future of Columbia’s Area Agency on Aging

The Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) is holding a series of public hearings to address ongoing concerns regarding the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of the Colombia County Council of Seniors.

"Preserving services to seniors is paramount," said James Toews, DHS acting assistant director for seniors and people with disabilities. "Our goal is to get all interested parties at the table and have an objective discussion."

Toews said one of the issues for discussion is the possible revoking of the current AAA designation by the DHS State Unit on Aging.

This is the schedule of meetings:

St. Helens Senior Center, Thursday, May 8, 10 a.m. to noon

Scappoose Senior Center, Thursday, May 8, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
