Meeting notice: View-Master Citizen’s Advisory Group

The View-Master Citizen’s Advisory Group (CAG) will meet on Thursday, Sept. 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Room 120C at the Portland State Office Building, 800 NE Oregon Street in Portland.

This is one of two meetings that will be devoted to development of a charter for the CAG. Thursday’s meeting will be facilitated and will focus on determining the mission, purpose and scope of the advisory group and how members will organize to meet those goals. The CAG has met previously but members requested an outside facilitator to help them work out their charter.

Janet Gillaspie of Environmental Strategies, LLC, a professional facilitator, has been contracted to facilitate the meeting. Funding for her services is through Oregon State University’s Technical Outreach Services to Communities (TOSC) program.

The CAG was convened in April by the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) in order to gain input into the development of an in-depth health investigation into exposure of former View-Master employees to trichloroethylene (TCE) in the drinking water. High levels of TCE were first found in 1998 at the View-Master factory in Beaverton. Anyone with questions about the meeting should contact Elizabeth Everman in DHS at (503) 731-4025, ext. 408.
