Home Care Commission meets December 1 in Keizer
What: Public meeting of the state Home Care Commission.
When: Thursday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Self Sufficiency Office, 3420 Cherry Ave. N.E., Keizer.
Agenda items include public testimony at 10:15 a.m., followed by reports from the executive director, the training committee and the registry committee. Discussion of criminal-records checks will be at 1 p.m. and of the confidentiality policy at 1:30 p.m.
The nine-member Commission, which voters authorized in November 2000, is responsible for ensuring the quality of home care services that the Department of Human Services funds for seniors and people with disabilities. The Commission has four major responsibilities: 1) define the qualifications of home care workers; 2) create a statewide registry of home care workers; 3) provide training opportunities for home care workers and consumers; and 4) serve as the "employer of record" for purposes of collective bargaining for home care workers whose pay comes from public funds.
