Senior Services Commission meets Thursday and Friday

Dec. 7: Caregivers Committee, 10 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.; Elder Abuse Committee, 1 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.; Mental Health Committee, 3 p.m. to 4:50 p.m.


Dec. 8: Legislative Committee, 8 a.m. to 9:50 a.m.; full commission, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.


Agenda is posted on the Commission's Web site.


Agenda items include presentations on elder abuse and the Life by Design Program. The Commission will be discussing legislative priorities during the Legislative Committee and again during the full commission meeting. A time for public testimony at the full commission meeting is scheduled for Friday at 10:20 a.m.


The Governor's Commission on Senior Services is charged in Oregon statute with advising the governor and the director of Human Services on needs of elderly persons, and recommending actions by the governor, the Department of Human Services, other governmental entities and the private sector, appropriate to meet such needs.


Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed for individuals requesting assistive hearing devices, sign language interpreters or large-print materials. Individuals needing these types of accommodations are asked to call DHS at 1-800-358-3117 at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting.
