On this page Colorado Tick Fever (CTF) is also known as Mountain fever or American Mountain Fever. The virus is spread to humans by bites from infected ticks. Symptoms include a sudden fever, headache, muscle pain and chills. CTF can be a severe illness, especially in children under 10 and older adults.

Disease reporting

Health care providers and clinical laboratories are required to report cases and suspect cases of Colorado Tick Fever within one working day upon identification. On weekends and holidays, call 971-673-1111 to reach the state health department doctor on call.
