Get Smart Week - October 5-11, 2009
What is Get Smart About Antibiotics Week?
Get Smart about Antibiotics Week is an annual effort to coordinate the work of CDC's Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work campaign, state-based appropriate antibiotic use campaigns, non-profit partners, and for-profit partners during a one week observance of the importance of appropriate antibiotic use. Oregon AWARE (Alliance Working for Antibiotic Resistance Education) encourages the appropriate use of antibiotics and aims to reduce the problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in Oregon.
Throughout the week:
- Oregon AWARE will be working with physician assistant students and pharmacy students around Oregon to set up educational booths at chosen community venues. Be looking for us at your local pharmacy and health center!
- Public service announcements will be aired on local radio stations.
- Billboards will be placed in the Portland-Salem Metro areas.
- Pharmacists will distribute "bagstuffers" to the public at pharmacy centers around the State of Oregon.
